As the Camborne and Redruth Motor Club starts the new decade and completes 73 years of service to motorcycle sport in Cornwall it is great to report that two of the club’s Honorary Life Members have achieved great success in 2019. First, Toby Martyn was nominated by CRMC for the national Pinhard Prize which is awarded annually to the best Under-21-year-old sporting motorcyclist. This is a great national recognition at contesting World, European and British Trials Championships finishing joint third in the Worlds and 2nd in the British against much more experienced competitors. Another CRMC Life Member, Jason Lawer, was awarded the Pinhard Prize in 1989 so two Cornishmen now have their name on this prestigious national award and both nominated by CRMC. Our other famous Honorary Life member is Peter Hickman, The Worlds Fastest Road Racer. His road racing season opened with a win at the NW 200 in the opening Superstock race. At the Isle Of Man TT he recorded a hat trick of wins and a further two podiums. Hicky was awarded the Joey Dunlop Solo Championship trophy for the second consecutive year. Peter dominated proceedings at the Ulster GP winning his two races on Thursday and going on to win the five races on Saturday making history with a seven-win haul plus a new lap record. He also secured himself a position in the showdown of the British Superbike Championship. He has had another superb racing season.

Throughout 2019 we staged no less than 24 competition events together with 5 training sessions and for 2020 we plan similar events ranging from Trials, Hare and Hounds and our famous road trial, the Smokey Trial. Amongst our Trials events we include the monthly Oset Cup Trials for electric bikes and we are fortunate to be just one of only eight clubs in the UK hosting dedicated Oset Cup Trials with the full support of Oset themselves.

The Camborne and Redruth Motor Club is committed to encouraging and developing young riders into the sport of off-road motorcycling and young riders from 4 years and upwards may start on safe electric bikes with our Oset Cup series and then progress through the various sizes of electric bikes and then on to petrol-fuelled bikes within our dedicated Youth Trials.

The Club now has an active group of  8 approved ACU Instructors / Coaches, one of whom is Toby Martyn. CRMC holds Trials Training and practice evenings from April to September at Gilberts Coombe, Redruth and Toby Martyn’s training ground at St Agnes.

CRMC is committed to providing safe and professional opportunities for all riders and prospective riders to take part in off-road motorcycle sport and there are also opportunities for anyone to come and assist at our events as marshals, observers or helpers.

Every one of our events and activities throughout the year is open to members and friends and details will always be included within this CRMC website and our newsletter, please come along, you will all be made very welcome.
